QJUTSU coatings – the way of the detailing samurai

Since its launch in February 2020, QJUTSU quartz coatings from Soft99 have found their way onto thousands of cars across Europe, from everyday commuter cars to unique supercars from the 80's. What's the secret behind these Japanese coatings?

The revolution came during the first stop of the QJUTSU Tour, when we unveiled QJUTSU for the first time on 24 February 2020. With a new line consisting of three products, we targeted the needs of vehicle owners from Europe. We focused on ease and speed of application, excellent visual effects and great water repellency. Why are QJUTSU quartz coatings worth looking at?

20 years of experience in quartz coatings

First of all: let's set the record straight. When it comes to coatings, for the Japanese from the Soft99 HQ it is not their first sumo basho. The company took its first steps in this product category as early as 2001, creating numerous different quartz coatings as part of the G'zox product series, for use exclusively in the network of detailing studios of that name. It's worth noting that this took place at the very beginning of the 21st century, so in relatively prehistoric times for modern detailing. The priceless years of experience paid off nearly 20 years later, when it came to creating a dedicated, European-designed line of QJUTSU coatings.

Japanese DNA

We love to highlight Soft99's Japaneseness at every turn, and it is no different with QJUTSU, which we have given a unique, catchy name with a hidden, profound meaning. The first letter 'Q' comes from the English word describing quartz, the technological source from which coatings derive their protective properties. The 'JUTSU' part, on the other hand, is taken from the Japanese language and means 'skill' or 'technique'. QJUTSU therefore combined the world of quartz and highly specialized detailing skills. And besides, a name starting with the letter 'Q', associated with the English word for 'quality', was a great opportunity just waiting to be seized!

JIS – the only such standard in the world

And speaking of quality, it only makes sense to measure it by universal metrics. That is why QJUTSU is assessed by the Japanese Industrial Standards Committee (JISC), the state body that issues the globally unique JIS chemical product certification. In Japan, all product-related values that may be used in marketing or descriptions, are determined on the basis of standardized tests carried out under strict laboratory conditions, guaranteeing the highest quality and technological transparency.

QJUTSU Body Coat

This is an easy-to-apply QJUTSU coating that will be enjoyed by any vehicle owner for 12 months after application. It was developed to combine simplicity and speed of application with great protective properties. It's the perfect solution for anyone looking to strike the balance between the best paint protection technology, effectiveness and price-to-quality ratio. Body Coat will also be an option worth considering for anyone looking for the ideal product to start their adventure with high-end quartz coatings. Professionals too will benefit a great deal from the power and effectiveness of Body Coat, as was best demonstrated by the flawless results on the Mercedes-Benz C300e Hybrid seen below, carried out by our Portuguese partner, AMR's Xclusive Details.

QJUTSU Body Coat Matte

Body Coat Matte is a 24-month coating specifically developed for the increasingly popular matte surfaces. It is designed to perform its role regardless of the matte material it protects. It retains its properties on both factory matte paintworks as well as films, which will certainly be appreciated by professionals working on a wide variety of projects. Above all, Body Coat Matte provides protection against dirt, mechanical and chemical degradation, stunning water repellency, while adding no gloss and not interfering with your matte car's appearance, which is of course, by design. So if you are looking for a coating that will protect your car, but will not change its appearance – Body Coat Matte will be the ideal choice.

QJUTSU Body Coat Pro

The most advanced of QJUTSU coatings is a real feast for the eyes. It is not only the strongly repelled water droplets or light reflections that dance before our eyeballs, but also the number "24", indicating how many months of protection Body Coat Pro provides. There is a reason why the best of QJUTSU coatings ended up on the paintwork of an absolutely breathtaking Ferrari F40, brought to pristine condition by B-Detailing in Bari, Italy.

Body Coat Pro is first and foremost an excellent option for pro detailers. The application is unique, as we have included a small bottle with a so-called activator in addition to the larger bottle. The application process itself is extremely easy to carry out, so that not only professionals, but also novice detailers will find their way around Body Coat Pro. Interestingly, Body Coat Pro provides a water droplet contact angle of as much as 105°! Water beading fans – you know what to do!

QJUTSU Wheel Coat

The name of this coating immediately directs our thoughts towards the protection of car rims, but Wheel Coat can do so much more! The highlight feature of this coating is its resistance to high temperatures, and the resulting repellency of dirt particles. Wheel Coat retains its gloss-giving and protective properties up to 550°C! As a result, Wheel Coat can be applied not only to wheel rims, which heat up due to driving and braking, but also to brake callipers, exhaust tips and some of the metal exterior parts of the engine.

What’s in store for QJUTSU?

Keen observers of the Soft99 range will no doubt have spotted the new QJUTSU Creamy Shampoo included as a bonus with the 2023 Protection Time promotional sets. The new launch-ready shampoo draws on the nomenclature of the well-known fan-favourite Neutral Creamy Shampoo for a reason – the new QJUTSU shampoo introduces even greater ease of use and increased safety for waxes and coatings. For owners of QJUTSU-coated vehicles, a shampoo from the same range will perfectly complement their detailing product stash, saving headaches every time they wash their already protected car.

What does the future hold for the QJUTSU series? Apart from the fact that the QJUTSU series will certainly be further developed, we cannot say too much! For now, we are putting 4 excellent quality coatings, as well as a high-quality, coating-ready sponge, into the hands of enthusiasts and detailers, which will win the appreciation of even the most demanding fans of shine and hydrophobicity.
