Pre-Wash. A necessity or just a detailing trend?
Foams, scents, and even distinctive colourings. Someone might ask: is pre-wash even necessary or is it just a passing fad? Turns out that this phase is crucial if you want to work safely!
Pre-wash, which is also known as active foam, had become a mainstay in the world of modern detailing. The rule of thumb is simple: the more thoroughly you perform the pre-wash, the less likely you are to mess up the paintwork during the hand wash. What is worth knowing about this topic?
Powerful, car-cleaning foam
Active foam is widely regarded as the most effective pre-washing agent. It moistens the dirt well, lifts it up and doesn't dry out as quickly as regular cleaning sprays. On top of that, you can easily adjust its density – a more watery foam will flow more quickly and will penetrate dirt in the nooks and crannies better, while a thicker foam will lie a little longer, lifting the dirt. The decision is yours. If you're using Soft99's Perfect Foam Shampoo, one packet will provide excellent performance in 1 litre of water, whether in a hand foamer or PA. Add a second packet if you want the foam to behave more like whipped cream. And last but not least, the bubble gum scent will surely make your work all the more fun – the fragrant additive is entirely safe, both for you and on your car, and the car will smell incredible!
Do away with stubborn dirt
Before the foam goes all over your car, take a close look at areas such as the bottoms of the doors, the front and back of the car, the wheels including the wheel arches, and various other nooks and crannies. For the dirtiest areas, it's a good idea to use something special to deal with the stubborn dirt. We are talking about Soft99's Stain Cleaner, a universal cleaner with which you can easily remove the dirt that conventional foams or shampoos cannot tackle. Spray it onto the dirtiest areas and then apply the active foam on top of it. Done? Then it's time for a break. Let the foam work and pressure rinse the residue when you see it fade away.
Detailing brushes will help you out
Need extra cleaning power? During the pre-wash, while the foam is working on the bodywork, you can assist it with a detailing brush for exterior work. The fine bristles will take care of smaller elements such as door handles, window corners, intakes or sills. Brushes are also perfect for cleaning rims. You can read more about detailing brushes HERE.
